Kayla Carr, PhD, RN, FNP-C
Dr. Kayla Carr, Ph.D., RN, FNP-C is Professor and Director of the Proposed Accelerated Master of Nursing Program at MSU-Meridian. A board certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner, Carr has a special focus in nurse-led strategies to promote health equity. Her practice has been primarily in school-based health and the care of adolescents and young adults. Carr has held leadership positions in practice and academia and has extensive experience as an educator in BSN accelerated, MSN, and PhD programs. She has secured approximately $1.7 million in funding to support school-based clinics and nursing education initiatives. Dr. Carr hopes to spend her career making healthcare easier to access and instilling in future nurses a respect for the dignity of all people. She strives to create an educational environment of belonging for every student nurse and believes that the classroom is where real societal health change begins.
